Staying Grounded in God Through Hard Seasons
Storms can take many forms, such as grief, uncertainty, burnout, betrayal, or simply seasons of spiritual dryness. In these moments, it’s easy to feel distant from God or question His presence. But it's in these very places that the more you draw closer to God, the more your faith can grow deeper roots.
Hard seasons don’t mean God has abandoned you. They’re invitations to lean into Him more intentionally. This post details how to stay anchored in your faith when everything around you feels unstable.
Begin by identifying the kind of “season” you're experiencing:
- Is it a season of waiting?
- A time of healing?
- A period of stretching and growing?
- Or are you recovering from something that broke you?
Understanding where you are allows you to meet God right there.
Even when motivation is low or your emotions are heavy, a few simple rhythms can keep you spiritually grounded:
- Daily Word Intake: Read a small portion of Scripture every day, even if it’s just one verse.
- Short Prayers Throughout the Day: Say a quiet prayer while washing dishes or driving.
- Worship as Therapy: Use music to reconnect your heart to God when you can't find the words.
- Silent Stillness: Sometimes, just sitting with God without needing to say anything is enough.
- Scripture Memorization: Choose one verse for the week and revisit it often.
When You Feel Distant from God
Feeling disconnected doesn’t mean you’ve failed spiritually. It just means you need a reset. Go back to the basics:
- Create a quiet space, even five minutes in the bathroom counts.
- Be honest in prayer: “God, I’m struggling. I need you.”
- Ask the Holy Spirit to rekindle your hunger for His Word.
Redefining Progress
In hard seasons, progress looks different. Maybe it’s not checking off every box but choosing to pray through tears. Perhaps it's getting out of bed when you want to hide under the covers. God sees every small victory.
Leaning Into Community
Isolation is the enemy’s playground. Don’t do this alone. Call a friend. Join a Bible study. Send that text you've been meaning to send. Let others pray over you.
Even when you feel like you’re barely holding on, God is still holding you. This season will pass. And when it does, you’ll come out stronger, wiser, and more rooted in Him.
