Daily Habits That Strengthen Your Faith & Marriage
Marriage doesn’t grow strong overnight, it grows in the everyday moments. The daily choices you and your spouse make can either draw you closer together or slowly create distance. By weaving in small, intentional habits, you not only strengthen your bond but also anchor your relationship in faith. These faith-filled routines can create deeper connection, stability, and joy.
1. Start with God in the Morning
Pray or read a short devotional together before the day begins.
- Keeps you aligned spiritually and sets the tone for unity.
I'll be the first to admit we usually have separate devotion time in the mornings for convenience, but taking time to come together and meet with God, is a more powerful and intentional way of connecting, so it's really best to do both.
2. Midday Check-In
Send a text, quick call, or even a funny meme just to say “I’m thinking of you.”
- Reminds your spouse they’re a priority, not an afterthought.
As a person whose love language is words of affirmation, I personally love to get thoughtful messages, but everyone loves to be acknowledged and feel seen. It's important to remind your spouse how much they mean to you and to be told so as well.
3. End the Day with Gratitude (and a Kiss)
Express one thing you’re grateful for, whether about life, about God, about your spouse.
- Physical touch seals connection, even in busy seasons.
Sometimes we can get so busy that it becomes difficult to stay connected. By setting aside time to be intentional, we can maintain our connection even through busy seasons.
4. Protect Time for Fun Together
Schedule small moments of joy such as walking, cooking, watching a show, or just laughing together.
- Fun strengthens intimacy and keeps things light-hearted.
My husband and I love binge watching new shows together. It allows us to spend time together unbothered, like an escape from the chaos and challenges of life. Finding things you both can enjoy together helps to build a retreat inside of your union.
A strong marriage doesn’t come from grand gestures alone. It’s the daily rhythms of prayer, gratitude, connection, and joy that keep love growing. The habits may be small, but their impact lasts a lifetime. What’s one daily habit you want to try with your spouse this week? Share in the comments, I’d love to hear!
